A New Church

Under God seeking to establish a new evangelical anglican church in the borough of Bury in Greater Manchester. If you are interested in joining us and would like to find our more, please so get in touch.

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshipped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always till the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-29

Just before Jesus was about to ascend to heaven, he gave instructions to his disciples on what they must do after his departure, they must ‘make disciples of all nations’. This is the mission of every church throughout the last days. In terms of what that means we can say that the task of the church is to reach and to teach. As we make disciples, we reach out to those who do not know Christ, and we ‘teach them to obey’. We see from the rest of the New Testament that this is done primarily through establishing local churches and through the local church reaching and teaching people that they may grow as follower of Christ and reach out to others. From the beginnings of the Church, disciples of Jesus have been establishing churches in parts of the world which need a gospel witness, this is what we long to do in north Manchester.

Vision

North Manchester is greatly under served by faithful Bible believing churches. Many leaders in the North West have identified this as a place of great need. Our vision is to see a faithful, Bible teaching church, established where there is a need in north of Manchester.

And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left – and also man animals?

Jonah 4:11

There are 2.8 million people in the Greater Manchester area. Although many people would nominally identify themselves as Christians, regular church attendance in Manchester is one of the lowest in the country. Even just attending church for Christmas and Easter is only at around 3% of the population. While there are a number of Bible teaching churches in the south of Manchester, there are less in the northern part of the city. That said we delight that there are faithful churches in North Manchester which serve as a gospel witness, however there is need for much more. Our desire is to research and work alongside those already in North Manchester, to establish a bible teaching, gospel centred church in north Manchester.

Purpose

The aim is to establish a church to glorify God by making disciples of Christ teaching, disciples from the Bible to grow in Christ and equipping disciples to live out that teaching in every part of life, for the good of their neighbour and the glory of God.

Make

Proclaiming Christ to those who do not know Him so that they might come to a living faith in Him.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...”

Matt. 28:19

Grow

Proclaiming Christ to those who know Him so that they would be deeply rooted in Him.

“...as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him …”

Col. 2:6-7

Equip

Proclaiming Christ to those who know Him so they would be equipped to serve one another, the wider church and the world.

“…to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

Eph. 4:12
